FlowTEK was designed to be the most versatile full feature FIA / SIA software package on the market. The package was written by researchers experienced in the use of FIA / SIA in both the laboratory and process analysis environments, and contains features useful for both of these types of applications. The software provides the user with the capability of methodology development, calibration, analyses, and reporting. Countless user-defined options make the software a powerful but easy to use package. For example, in a plant process environment, its system of procedures allow methods which start-up the system, wash it out, calibrate, and power it down to be grouped together to facilitate fully automated operation.

FlowTEK's flexible calibration routines allow several different arithmetic functions to be applied to calibration data. Results are stored in ASCII format in a data file for printing or, if required, subsequent manipulation by a third part package.

The software provides twelve digital outputs (TTL, or switch logic), or serial control for device control of components such as pumps, valves, detectors, coil heaters, and other devices used in FIA / SIA. The four digital inputs can be used to control the progress of procedures or signal the start of an experiment. They also accept either TTL or switch logic. The analog inputs allow data acquisition from up to four detectors or analog devices. The default input range for detector signals is 0 to 10 volts. Amplification of between 1 and 1000 times, as well as electronic filtering of analog signals, is also included for two of the input channels. Four analog outputs are also available for device control (e.g. pump speed) as well as to provide 4 - 20 mA output signals for process analysis.

The convenient graphics-based user interface ensures easy development of methods and experimental design.

Drivers have been written which allow FlowTEK to be used with the following computer options:

• A PC with an ADA 2210 interface board by RTD.
• A Laptop with a Type II PCMCIA interface card by National Instruments.
• An embedded PC with a STD-32 Bus form factor by Ziatech (this embedded computer mounted on a FIA Frame panel is available from Global FIA).
